The world’s tallest woman, who achieved Guinness World Record status, has passed away at the age of 77

Renowned as the ‘Queen of Height’ during the 1960s, Maria Feliciana dos Santos, who broke records, has sadly taken her last breath.

Her family confirmed that the legendary basketball player breathed her last in a private medical facility at the age of 77.

Hailing from Brazil, Maria, who had been combating pneumonia for an extended period, captured the hearts of many in her home country as she went through an astonishing growth spurt, transitioning from an average 10-year-old to being crowned as Brazil’s tallest woman during her late teenage years.

Originating from Amparo do São Francisco, Santos traveled to various cities, showcasing her talents in circuses before claiming the coveted title of ‘Queen of Height’ in the 60s.

Furthermore, Maria Feliciana’s legacy lives on, as she was honored during the unveiling of the Estado de Sergipe, a towering 28-story skyscraper in Aracaju, which was dedicated as the Maria Feliciana building.

Adding to her numerous accolades, in May 2022, she was commemorated by the Museu de Gente Sergipana with a statue positioned at the main entrance of the establishment.

The final rites of Maria Feliciana are scheduled to be conducted this afternoon, preceded by a night-long vigil in her honor.
