Demolition of Shanties Under Adeniji-Adele Underbridge Begins in Lagos

Over 100 shanties located at the Adeniji Adele under-bridge area in Lagos are currently being demolished by the Lagos government.

Announcing this development on Monday was Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos.

According to him, the joint task force of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) and Lagos State Environment and Special Offences team have initiated the process of removing shanties and makeshift structures constructed under the Adeniji Adele bridge after the expiration of the eviction notice.

Similarly, the Lagos state government found 86 partitioned rooms being used as makeshift apartments under the Dolphin Estate bridge in Ikoyi on Wednesday.

Prior to the commencement of the demolition, Tokunbo issued a warning on Sunday regarding the removal of the shanties under the bridge at Adeniji Adele, following the lapse of the 48-hour notice served to all occupants.
