Minister Festus Keyamo Reveals Dana Air’s Unhealthy Flying Status

In a recent interview on Channels television, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed that Dana Airline has been operating with a concerning status.

Keyamo highlighted that a previous audit report conducted under his predecessor had already flagged the airline’s inadequate condition.

Internal reports from two years ago indicated that Dana Air was deemed unfit to fly, with a series of incidents prompting Keyamo to advocate for a suspension.

Addressing the backlash following the suspension, Keyamo clarified that he did not directly contact the airline but rather directed the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to intervene.

Prior to assuming his role, Keyamo referenced several troubling incidents involving Dana Airline, such as a door opening mid-flight during an approach to the runway, raising concerns about the maintenance and safety protocols of the airline.

He also pointed out other worrisome incidents that occurred with the airline’s aircraft in the past, underscoring the necessity for strict oversight and regulatory action.
