Two Criminals in Osun Sentenced to Death by Hanging by Court

In Osogbo, an Osun State High Court handed down a death sentence by hanging to two individuals who were found guilty of armed robbery and murder.

The individuals, aged 36 and 34, were charged with conspiracy, attempted robbery, armed robbery, possession of firearms, and murder.

Throughout the trial, the convicts maintained their innocence with regards to the charges brought against them.

Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, in his verdict, stated that the prosecution successfully demonstrated the guilt of the convicts beyond any reasonable doubt, leading to their conviction.

During the court proceedings, the state prosecution counsel, Mr. Bewaji Adeniji, revealed that the crimes took place in December 2018 at a specific location in Osogbo.

The prosecution informed the court that the two individuals had attempted to rob residents of the area and were apprehended at different times.

Additionally, Adeniji mentioned a separate incident in November 2018 where the same gang committed robbery at another location in Osogbo resulting in a fatality.

These criminal acts were found to be in violation of certain laws related to robbery, firearms, and murder as outlined in the legal statutes.

Despite the plea for leniency from the convicts’ counsel, the court proceeded with the sentencing, emphasizing the severity of the crimes committed.
