Cameroonian troops successfully remove pro-Biafra militants from Bakassi
Reports indicate that Cameroonian troops have successfully dislodged members of a pro-Biafra separatist group known as Black Marine from Abana town, which was the former capital of the Bakassi Peninsula. This operation took place on Sunday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the Rapid d'intervention Battalions (BIR) of Cameroon recaptured Abana from the pro-Biafra militants.
Authorities in Cameroon have reportedly deployed additional troops to the Isangele subdivision, surrounding the town, including the residential areas where oil companies operate.
Earlier, there were reports of a gun battle between the rebel group and the troops in Abana.
