Cameroonian troops successfully remove pro-Biafra militants from Bakassi

Reports indicate that Cameroonian troops have successfully dislodged members of a pro-Biafra separatist group known as Black Marine from Abana town, which was the former capital of the Bakassi Peninsula. This operation took place on Sunday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the Rapid d’intervention Battalions (BIR) of Cameroon recaptured Abana from the pro-Biafra militants.

Authorities in Cameroon have reportedly deployed additional troops to the Isangele subdivision, surrounding the town, including the residential areas where oil companies operate.

Earlier, there were reports of a gun battle between the rebel group and the troops in Abana.

Henry Edet, identified as an operational coordinator of the Biafra National League, BNL, called on the Black Marine to retreat from Abana. Black Marine is said to be an arm of BNL.

In recent days, the BIR troops conducted airstrikes on the Ine Mba forest in the Idabato subdivision of the Bakassi Peninsula, targeting the Black Marine militants.

It is known that the militant group clashed with the Joint Border Forces of Nigeria and Cameroon in the Gulf of Guinea.

Eyewitnesses have confirmed that two helicopters dropped explosives in the area, resulting in the destruction of the militant camps. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
