Car Thief Suspected of Stealing Dies in Crash with Stolen Vehicle


Following an accident involving a stolen vehicle, a suspected car thief has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command, while his accomplice lost his life.

The incident occurred last Wednesday, as detailed in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, released on Tuesday morning.

The police reported, “On 24th April 2024, the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and key stakeholders resulted in the arrest of two individuals for offenses including Criminal Conspiracy, Culpable Homicide punishable by death, and Armed Robbery.”

The suspects were identified as Umar Faruq, a 25-year-old resident of Rumde Baru, Yola North Local Government Area, and Al-Amin Adamu, also 25 years old, hailing from Samu Naka, Yola South Local Government Area.

According to the police statement, the duo boarded a commercial vehicle from Jalingo in Taraba State, purporting to be en route to the Adamawa State capital, Yola. Between Mayo-Belwa and Ngurore town in Adamawa, they reportedly attacked the driver, Muhammed Suleiman, causing him a deep cut and stealing his vehicle.

The police statement further mentioned, “Prompt response from law enforcement and subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the culprits following a fatal accident a few kilometers away that resulted in the death of one suspect.”
