Bayo Onanuga: Tinubu Taking on Nigeria’s Challenges Directly

Addressing Nigeria’s issues head-on is the focus of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, according to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga remarked in Abuja that the President is striving to establish a strong economic foundation for Nigeria.

His comments come in response to the accusations from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alleging that the Tinubu-led government is attempting to establish a one-party system.

Comparing it to the PDP’s 16-year administration, Onanuga stated, “The Tinubu administration is directly confronting our country’s challenges.

“There is a bold push towards a reset aimed at firmly stabilizing our economy.

“The outcomes are evident. Against the wishes and doubts of certain PDP leaders, the national currency has emerged as the strongest performer globally,

“With an almost 50% rise against the dollar within weeks, the exchange rate is now steadying due to a convergence between the official and informal markets,” Onanuga emphasized.

He went on to mention that the orchestrated sense of pessimism hanging over the nation has dissipated, replaced by a fresh sense of hope.

Onanuga expressed that the optimistic trajectory set by the APC’s economic agenda has prompted the International Monetary Fund, IMF, to revise Nigeria’s growth forecast for 2024 from 2.9% to 3.3%.

The presidential spokesperson highlighted that the Tinubu administration is aiming for even stronger growth through ambitious infrastructure projects like the Badagry-Sokoto Highway and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
