Authorities in Benin Apprehend 39 Suspected Internet Fraudsters


A total of 39 individuals believed to be involved in internet fraud were apprehended by the operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the state.

According to a statement released by the commission on Friday, the suspects were captured at various locations in Benin City.

The arrests were made based on valuable intelligence indicating their alleged participation in computer-related fraudulent activities.

Among the items confiscated from the suspects were eight luxury vehicles, including two Mercedes-Benz GLK 350s, two Mercedes Benz C300s, two Lexus RX350s, a Toyota Camry, and a Lexus ES350, in addition to laptops and mobile phones.

The law enforcement agency mentioned that the individuals will face charges in court once the investigations are completed.
