Arewa Group Accuses Gov Yusuf and Kwankwaso of Plotting Violence in Kano

Allegations have been made by the Arewa Peace and Development Initiative, APDI, claiming that Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, and the national leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, are conspiring to instigate violence in the state.

Expressing their concerns, the group highlighted the potential for chaos in the entire North due to the ongoing feud between the governor and the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje.

It is worth noting that Governor Abba Yusuf and Ganduje have been in conflict over alleged financial mismanagement during the previous administration.

Recently, Ganduje was suspended by the APC in his Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state.

In response to these events, Yakubu Dauda, the APDI convener, addressed journalists in Abuja and claimed that the attempt to oust Ganduje could lead to a security crisis in the state.

He further alleged the involvement of the governor and the NNPP in the suspension of the APC chairman.

Dauda stated, “We are deeply concerned about the repercussions of such deceitful strategies on our political landscape. Allowing a political party, like the NNPP, to deceitfully impersonate another party, the APC, to undermine its leadership is highly condemnable and must be prevented.

“Additionally, we fear the potential consequences of Governor Yusuf and Kwankwaso’s scheme to incite violent unrest in Kano State. The resulting violence could spiral out of control and spread to other Arewa states.

“Considering the existing security challenges in Arewa, such deplorable acts of desperation have no place in our current socio-political framework. The North must unite to hold Governor Yusuf and Kwankwaso accountable for jeopardizing our collective well-being in such a manner.”
