Analyzed perspective: Sanam Vakil’s view on Iran’s denial of Israel’s strike on Supreme Leader’s birthday

Dr Sanam Vakil, the individual in charge of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House, expressed approval of Iran’s denial of the alleged attack on its territory by Israel.

On Thursday, reports indicated that Israel conducted a strike in Isfahan.

According to sources, the attack specifically targeted a military site and was carefully planned to prevent damage and prevent further hostile actions by Iran.

Commenting on this situation as reported by the Guardian UK, Vakil mentioned, “With Iran persisting in its denial of the attack and diverting attention away from it, and with no additional strikes observed, there is an opportunity for both sides to de-escalate tensions at this moment.”

In her analysis, the timing of the strike, which coincided with the birthday of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was intentionally chosen by Israel for its symbolic significance.
