Alleged Harm Infliction on Female Neighbor Leads to Man’s Arraignment

Adetipe Idowu, a 50-year-old man, appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, facing accusations of causing harm to a female neighbor.

During the proceedings, ASP Abdullahi Emmanuel, the Prosecutor, stated that the incident occurred on February 27 at around 6:00 p.m. in the Ita-Osun area of Ajamopo, Ile-Ife.

Emmanuel explained that Idowu allegedly assaulted Oluwatoyin Osoba by hitting her in the stomach and right leg with a hard wood, resulting in open injuries.

The Prosecutor further added that the defendant’s actions led to a significant altercation between him and Osoba’s family, posing a threat to the peace in the vicinity.
The charges leveled against Idowu are in violation of Sections 249(d) and 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Upon entering the plea, the defendant denied the accusations of causing harm and breaching the peace, as indicated in the two-count charges.

Defending Idowu, Mr. A.O. Okuovara requested bail under favorable conditions, assuring the court that his client would comply with all bail terms and furnish reliable guarantors.

In response, Magistrate Taofeek Badmus granted bail to Idowu in the amount of N500,000, requiring one surety of equal value.

Badmus specified that the chosen surety must provide a sworn affidavit confirming their financial standing, residency within the court’s jurisdiction, good moral character, and verifiable contact details recognized by the police.

Until the bail conditions are met, the magistrate ordered that Idowu be held at the Ile-Ife custodial center.

The case was adjourned by Badmus for further hearing on May 30.
