Addressing participants at the Chief of Army Staff Conference, Lagbaja reiterated the primary objective of safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity, protecting citizens’ lives and property, and upholding justice and fairness.
Stressing the need for adaptability in the face of volatility and uncertainty, Lagbaja called on leaders within the Army to be ready to embrace non-traditional military duties to support the nation during these challenging times.
Empowering field commanders and troops to intensify efforts in dealing with adversaries and restoring order in strife-torn areas, Lagbaja urged a focus on intelligence enhancement and upholding human rights in the discharge of duties.
He emphasized the importance of bolstering operational capabilities, improving intelligence gathering, promoting inter-agency collaboration, and prioritizing personnel welfare, while maintaining professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights.
Aside from securing the nation, Lagbaja commended the troops for their contributions to global peace efforts, highlighting recent deployments in various peacekeeping missions within and beyond the African continent.
Recognizing the challenges faced by wounded and disabled soldiers, Lagbaja directed the Managing Director of Post-Service Housing Development Limited to allocate a percentage of the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers Scheme for these servicemen, covering all housing expenses to ease their post-service life transition.
