Abia State’s former Speaker, Enyinnaya Orji steps down from PDP

Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, who previously held the position of Speaker at the Abia State House of Assembly, has officially resigned from his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Enyinnaya is known as the son of Theodore Orji, a former Governor of Abia State.

On Monday night, the ex-speaker shared his decision to depart from the PDP with some of his closest supporters, stating that the step was deemed necessary at this point.

Expressing his sentiments, he mentioned, “Following thorough consultations and personal deliberations, I have opted to disengage from the PDP. It is time for us to embark on a new chapter in our lives.”

Interestingly, this resignation follows shortly after Chris Nwagboso, a previous Deputy Chief of Staff in the office of the Deputy Governor in Abia State, also announced his resignation from the PDP.

Nwagboso conveyed his decision through a letter directly addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ehi-Na-Uguru/Osokwa Ward 5, located in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State.

In a correlated development, all executive committee members of PDP from Item Ward C in Bende local government area of the State have similarly stepped down from their positions within the party.

This action comes in the backdrop of the recent loss faced by PDP in the gubernatorial election in the State to the Labour Party (LP), resulting in Alex Otti’s victory as the governor.
