A declaration of greatness from socialite emerges following Naira abuse trial involving Cubana Chief Priest

Coming out of the shadows is businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, famously known as Cubana Chief Priest, who has spoken out after meeting his bail conditions of N10 million with two sureties of equal sum.

Okechukwu confidently proclaimed his stature and made a bold statement regarding money in a recent Instagram post following his arraignment this week.

“Appreciating all your kind messages and love. I am truly grateful. It is now evident that CP (Cubana Priest) is no small player. Money flows like water,” he shared.

Earlier, it was reported that the Federal High Court in Lagos State granted him bail of N10 million along with two sureties of the same sum.

The celebrity bartender entered a plea of not guilty in response to charges of tampering with and abusing the naira during the court proceedings.

He stood before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on three counts related to the alleged mishandling of the nation’s currency by spraying and tampering with it at a social function, which violates the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Reports indicated that the incident took place on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel, where Cubana Chief Priest was accused of spraying the naira while dancing at a social event.

Furthermore, it was alleged that he spent two hours spraying funds in N500 notes, which were issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to the charge labeled FHC/L/ 246/2024, brought forward by NewsNow, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission claimed that during a social gathering in Lagos in 2020, Cubana Chief Priest interfered with funds in N500 denominations issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for an extensive period.

Count 3 of the charges accused him of tampering with N500 funds during another social event in Lagos in January 2024, thus violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
