A cargo plane with the Amazon logo crashed this Sunday after leaving the runway after landing at Miami International Airport, leaving at least five people dead, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The FAA has explained that Prime Air flight 7598 left the runway around 2:00 p.m. local time (20:00 GMT) and that the plane involved was a Boeing 767-300 that had taken off from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The number of injured is unknown
The aircraft collided with several vehicles and more than 60 units of the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Corps are at the scene of the incident, as reported by this department in a post on Facebook. “Upon arriving at the scene, professionals found a plane that had caught fire as a result of the accident, with intense flames and a lot of smoke. Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire and treat the injured.”
For now, the number of injuries caused by the incident is unknown. Meanwhile, the Miami airport has reported in X that the aircraft was immobilized at the northeast end of the airport and that all runways and taxiways remain closed, so all takeoffs and landings have been suspended.
