JAMB cautions UTME candidates against engaging with scammers

In a recent development, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a warning to candidates preparing for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) to be vigilant and avoid sharing their personal information with fraudulent individuals.

During a press interaction at the JAMB Professional Centre in Bwari, the Board’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the importance of safeguarding one’s details and staying alert.

Reflecting on the ongoing examination process, Oloyede expressed satisfaction with the meticulous planning and implementation carried out over the past seven years. He highlighted the successful execution of certain long-awaited initiatives, which have now come to fruition.

Addressing concerns about possible malpractice, Oloyede acknowledged the challenges posed by fraudsters but assured that the Board’s measures have significantly enhanced security protocols.

Commending the cooperation of the public, particularly parents, Oloyede noted that previous disruptions often stemmed from parental interference and urged for continued support in ensuring a seamless examination environment.

For candidates encountering technical issues during their exams, the Registrar assured them of a rescheduling opportunity to complete their assessments smoothly.

Despite overall positive feedback, Oloyede acknowledged that a small percentage of exam centers may face difficulties, attributing this to varying infrastructural capacities across different regions.

He urged understanding from all stakeholders, emphasizing the need to address any challenges swiftly and maintain the integrity of the examination process.
