The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has expressed his optimism after maintaining a “significant conversation” with the US president, Donald Trump, in which they approached the next joint steps to stop war and achieve “a lasting and solid peace” in Ukraine .

As President Trump said, let’s do it“Zelenski said on his social networks by reporting on the content of the conversation, which occurred immediately after Trump maintained a 90 -minute phone call with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

During the extensive conversation with Zelenski, the technological abilities of Ukraine were discussed, including drones and other advanced industries, as well as the Preparation of a new document on security, economic cooperation and resources association. The Ukrainian president was also INform about the details of the previous conversation between Trump and Putin.

“No one wants peace more than Ukraine,” says Zelenski. “Together with the United States, we are drawing our next steps to stop Russian aggression and guarantee lasting and reliable peace.”

Negotiations will begin “immediately”

For his part, Trump described his call with Putin as “Long and highly productive”, announcing that negotiations to end war in Ukraine will begin “immediately.” The Trump administration has indicated that it seeks a rapid resolution of the conflict, which is about to enter its fourth year.

Among the outstanding points of the conversations, American officials have begun to take clearer positions about how the end of the war could be. The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegesh, declared in Brussels that kyiv’s entry to NATO is “unrealistic” and that the United States will reorient its priorities towards the safety of its borders and the deterrence of a conflict with China.

The possibility of an agreement that would allow the United States to access the valuable rare land minerals of Ukraine as a form of payment for the continuity of US assistance would also be mentioned.

The resumption of the dialogue between Washington and Moscow marks a significant change with respect to the previous administration, which had maintained a prolonged silence in communications with the Kremlin. The last US president to visit Russia was Barack Obama in 2013, while Putin made his last visit to the United States in 2015.
