Zamfara Governor Emphasizes the Use of Advanced Technology in Combating Insecurity

In a recent meeting in Washington, D.C., Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State proposed the adoption of advanced technology as a crucial strategy to address the issue of insecurity.

Joined by governors from several other states including Benue, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, and Niger, the Zamfara Governor discussed this approach with Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.

During the meeting, the Deputy Secretary-General commended the governors for their dedication in combatting insecurity in the region, highlighting that their concerted efforts reflect a strong commitment to implementing positive changes within their states.

Governor Lawal underscored the significance of leveraging technology to bolster security measures and stressed the necessity for a united front in harnessing technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, biometric identification systems, and surveillance cameras.

Addressing the impact of insecurity on agriculture, he emphasized the need for support in transitioning from traditional farming methods to more advanced agricultural practices, emphasizing the role of technology in combating insurgency.

Furthermore, Governor Lawal shared that he had declared a state of emergency in the education and health sectors, expressing the urgency for immediate action to address these critical issues.
