Yobe Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers in Tarmuwa Local Government Area

Two individuals suspected of engaging in kidnapping activities in Banbangida and parts of Dapchi, in Bursari Local Government Area, have been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, made this announcement in a statement released on Wednesday in Damaturu.

The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Adamu Manu and 28-year-old Musa Alh. Tahiru, had been terrorizing the residents of the mentioned areas.

The police started an investigation and launched a manhunt after receiving multiple reports of kidnapping incidents in the region, leading to the successful apprehension of the suspects.

Part of the statement reads:

“On August 29, 2023, at around 4:40 p.m., we received information about a kidnapping incident in Mongono village via Tarmuwa LGA. A gang of seven individuals, armed with an AK-47 rifle and other deadly weapons, invaded a hamlet and abducted two people.

“The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000.00), which the victims couldn’t afford. After three weeks in captivity, the victims managed to escape.”

“Similarly, on August 29, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a gang of four individuals attacked one of their previous victims, causing serious injuries. They forcefully took his valuables and Four Thousand Naira (N4,000.00) in cash.

“The victim was later rescued and received medical treatment. He is currently recovering.”

The command revealed that during the investigation, the arrested suspects confessed to their involvement in the alleged crimes. They are now in police custody, and efforts are being made to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
