Yobe Government: Dissolution of 17 LG Caretaker Management Committees

The State Governor of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni, has given his approval for the dissolution of all 17 local government councils within the state.

An official statement released on Wednesday by the Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government, Shuaibu Abdullahi, made this announcement.

As per the statement, Governor Buni has instructed all local government chairmen to transfer the management of their respective local governments to the Directors of Personnel Management by Thursday, April 25, 2024.

It is worth noting that the term of the outgoing council chairmen ended on November 25, 2023, however, it was extended by six months due to the postponement of the local government elections to May 25, 2024, by the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC).

Reports indicate that individuals hoping to compete in the upcoming LG elections have begun to acquire expression of interest and nomination forms from political parties in the state.
