Sir Elton John has commented on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s choice to step down from their senior royal duties.
The iconic English singer, who shares a close bond with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, expressed surprise at their announcement, as shared by a spokesperson.
A royal insider told the Mirror, “Elton speaks to Harry and Meghan every day. He’s an inspiration, an almost ‘motherly’ figure.”
“He is a constant support, especially to Meghan, and is very protective of them both,” they added.
Another source close to Sir Elton stated, “He has been their rock. So while he would never tell them what to do, he has been a listening ear and support throughout.”
Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step back from the royal family after months of reflection and internal discussions. This move will allow them to work towards becoming financially independent and splitting their time between Britain and Canada.
