Warning from JAMB to candidates: Avoid fraudsters

JAMB has urged candidates taking the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations to refrain from sharing their information with fraudsters.

During a monitoring exercise at the JAMB Professional Centre in Bwari, the Board Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the importance of the day’s examination, highlighting the significant advancements made in the past seven years.

Prof Oloyede commended the security agencies for their effective collaboration in apprehending individuals involved in fraudulent activities, stressing that measures have been implemented to curb such practices.

He expressed gratitude to law enforcement agencies such as the Inspector-General of Police, Department of State Services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, and the Nigerian Police Force National CyberCrime Centre.

Prof Oloyede acknowledged the smooth progress of the examination, attributing it to the cooperation of the public and parents in ensuring compliance with the rules.

Notably, JAMB had warned against the presence of parents near examination centers, threatening arrests, which resulted in improved adherence to guidelines.

Addressing candidates who encountered disruptions during the exams, Prof Oloyede assured them of rescheduling opportunities to complete their tests.

He advised the public to remain understanding, as technical issues may arise in some centers due to varying levels of infrastructure development nationwide.

Furthermore, he emphasized the need for security at CBT centers, urging center owners to restrict non-candidates and parents from interfering with the examination process.

Prof Oloyede cautioned candidates against engaging with tutorial centers, warning them of the prevalence of corrupt practices in such establishments.

Fatimah Abba, the Supervisor at JAMB Professional Centre, Kogo in Bwari, reported no technical difficulties during the exams.

Candidates scheduled for the 8 a.m. sessions expressed confidence in the examination process, urging JAMB to maintain the current standards.
