Violent Attack in Zamfara Market Leaves 2 Dead and Several Injured

Tragedy struck Mada Market in Zamfara State as a group of armed bandits carried out a horrific attack, resulting in the death of two innocent individuals and leaving many others with injuries.

An eyewitness, Mama Bilikisu, described the harrowing scene where numerous terrorists on motorcycles armed with advanced weapons stormed the market and started firing indiscriminately.

Having a customary routine of selling bread, cold drinks, and water at community markets in Zamfara State, Mama Bilikisu expressed her devastation at losing everything during the violent incident.

She recounted, “I was in the midst of selling my goods when the gunfire erupted, causing chaos and prompting me to abandon my products for my own safety.”

She mentioned that the bandits managed to overpower the limited police presence in Mada district of Gusau, giving them the freedom to carry out their heinous activities.

It is worth noting that Wanke and other markets were previously banned by the State government under the administration of former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle due to the prevalence of banditry in those areas.

Efforts to reach out to the State Police command’s spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting this incident.
