UN Chief, Guterres Condemns Iran’s Attack on Israel

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has expressed strong disapproval of Iran’s recent assault on Israel.

In a released statement, Guterres emphasized the necessity for all parties involved to display utmost restraint, cautioning against the repercussions of initiating another conflict, stressing that the region and the global community cannot endure another war.

The recent aggression from Iran involved the launch of numerous drones and missiles from its territories towards Israel, many of which were successfully intercepted over the weekend.

Despite interception efforts, a few missiles managed to hit Israeli soil, causing some damage to a military installation in the southern part of the country.

Guterres called for an immediate halt to these acts of hostility, expressing grave concern about the looming threat of a widespread and catastrophic regional escalation.

He reiterated his plea for all parties to practice utmost self-restraint and refrain from actions that could trigger significant military conflicts across various fronts in the Middle East.

Highlighting the urgent need to avoid further escalation, Guterres emphasized, “It has been emphasized time and again that the world cannot afford another war, especially in this volatile region.”
