UK prime minister, Boris Johnson receives oxygen support in ICU

The UK’s prime minister, Boris Johnson, has been receiving oxygen support in the intensive care unit, a senior member of the Cabinet has confirmed.

Micheal Gove, a Cabinet Office minister, disclosed in an interview with the BBC that while the Prime Minister was “not on a ventilator,” he had “received oxygen support.”

Gove also mentioned during the interview that Johnson was “receiving the very best care” at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London after being moved to the intensive care unit as his coronavirus symptoms “worsened” on Monday night.

He further explained, “And of course, one of the reasons for being in intensive care is to make sure that whatever support the medical team consider to be appropriate can be provided.”

Following the interview, Gove went into self-isolation due to a family member displaying symptoms of the coronavirus. This development adds him to the list of British government ministers and advisers who have been compelled to go into isolation.
