Two Suspected Fraudsters Apprehended by Police in Lagos

Authorities from the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in fraudulent activities; Seyi Demola and Wale Lawson. They are accused of swindling members of the public.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the command, confirmed the arrests in a social media post over the weekend.

The suspects were taken into custody on Saturday by officers from Isokoko Division of the command.

“Following a distress call, officers from Isokoko Division successfully apprehended the suspected fraudsters,” said Hundeyin.

Upon their arrest, the individuals were found in possession of two handbags, money, and an iPhone, as mentioned by Hundeyin.

Hundeyin disclosed that initial investigations suggest that numerous individuals have fallen prey to their fraudulent activities, and further probes into the matter are ongoing.

In a video shared by Hundeyin, a woman recounted her close encounter with the suspects’ deceptions. She mentioned that one of the fraudsters, posing as a prophet, approached her for prayers.

“He directed me and his partner, who pretended to seek assistance, to purchase sachet water for a prayer session,” she recounted.

She explained how the man was instructed to use the water for prayers and offer his bag to her to hold.

Further narrating her ordeal, she mentioned that the suspects warned her not to look back or risk becoming like Lot’s wife in the Bible.

The woman described how the suspects attempted to flee on a motorcycle but were intercepted by vigilant bystanders who recognized their association.
