Two Kaduna men docked for allegedly stealing property worth N360,000

The Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna arraigned two men, Usman Garba and Yusuf Abubakar, for allegedly stealing cash and property worth N360,000 from a man’s house. The defendants, residents of Ali Akilu Road Kaduna, were charged with criminal conspiracy and stealing. The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, stated that the defendants committed the offenses on Jan. 6 at Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna. They were accused of conspiring with two others to steal cash, jewelry, shirts, shoes, and a generator belonging to Haruna Mohammed. The defendants used a sharp object to break into the house while the complainant was at work. They were caught by the complainant’s neighbor, who saw them leaving with the stolen items and raised an alarm. The prosecutor said that the offenses contravened sections 322 and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017. The defendants pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be residents of Kaduna State, employed, and provide proof of two years tax payment to the Kaduna State Government. The case was adjourned until Feb. 8 for hearing.
