Countries
Trump signed on Wednesday the executive order that It prohibits the entry of immigrants from Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen and limited those from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
The prohibition enters effect on June 9, according to the order, which also establishes that within 90 days and every 180 days, the Secretary of State will present a report to the President with his evaluation and recommending whether to continue, end, modify or complement each other.
According to the order of the president, The 12 countries with total prohibition “are poor in terms of detection and control and represent a very high risk for the United States.”
We cannot allow open migration from any country where we cannot carry out a safe and reliable evaluation and control
“We cannot allow open migration from any country where we cannot carry out a safe and reliable evaluation and control. That is why today I sign a new executive order that imposes travel restrictions on countries such as Yemen, Somalia, Haiti, Libya and many others,” said the president.
In a video on the X page of the White House, Trump indicated that the recent incident in Colorado, against Jews, is an example of the “extreme” dangers that represents for the US the entry of foreigners who have not been properly examinedas well as those who arrive here as temporary visitors and stay longer than allowed by their visas.
“In the 21st century, we have seen a terrorist attack after another perpetrated by foreigners who stayed longer than allowed by their visas and that come from dangerous places around the world,” he said and blamed the Democratic President Joe Biden for Sud “open doors policies.”
He said that because of this there are now “millions and millions” of immigrants without legal status in the country and recalled that during his first mandate he also issued prohibitions of travel – to national epísses nationals, – “one of our most successful policies and were key to preventing great foreign terrorist attacks on US soil.”
We will not allow what happened in Europe to happen to the United States
“We will not allow what happened in Europe to happen to the United States,” he said and recalled that when he returned to the White House in January he asked the Secretary of State to carry out a security review in the high -risk regions and formulate recommendations on threats to national security.
That considered the large -scale presence of terrorists, the lack of visas security cooperation, the impossibility of verifying the identity of travelers and inappropriate records, among others.
The president indicated that the list is subject to review based on whether material improvements are made and, also, new countries can be added as threats arise worldwide.
