Transmission Line Collapse Causes Blackout in Gombe Amid Rainstorm

Following the destruction of the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s 330 kV transmission line, Gombe State faced a period of blackout.

An intense rainstorm and windstorm led to the collapse of tower number 290 in the Shingen Abba Area of Tirwun Village, Bauchi Local Government Area, causing an outage lasting approximately 10 hours.

In a statement released on Monday by Dr. Friday Adakole, the Head of Corporate Communications for Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc, it was revealed that the collapse of the transmission line impacted the entire state, including the Ashaka Cement Plant.

The statement indicated that efforts have been initiated by TCN to rebuild the collapsed tower and restore regular power supply to the residents of Gombe State.

Part of the statement mentioned, “The incident has had widespread effects in Gombe State and at the Ashaka Cement Plant.

“TCN is diligently working on reconstructing the fallen tower to normalize the power supply to the people of Gombe State.

“We urge customers to be patient as we are striving to address the issue.

“Power will be reinstated promptly once the problem is resolved.”
