Tragic Road Accident Claims 8 Lives, Leaves 47 Injured in Yobe

Tragedy struck on Wednesday when a collision between two trucks along the Potiskum-Nangere road in Yobe State resulted in the death of eight individuals and left 47 others injured.

The accident occurred as the victims were en route to the popular weekly cattle market in Potiskum. One of the trucks lost control and collided with the other, leading to the devastating consequences.

An eyewitness, Adamu Hassan, shared with reporters that the deceased have been transported to the Potiskum Specialist Hospital, while the injured have been taken to the General Hospital Sabon Garin Nangere for medical treatment.

Validating the incident, Muhammad Kawuwale, a member of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), stated that eight people were pronounced dead while 47 others sustained various injuries.

“We have also learned that 26 of the injured individuals are from Nangere, while the remaining 21 are residents of Potiskum LGA,” he said.

Kawuwale further mentioned that SEMA has provided necessary support to the victims, including free medication and other essential interventions.
