Tragic Incident: Nigerian Bodybuilder in the US Passes Away 18 Days After Wife’s Gunshots

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Michael Chidozie, a 26-year-old Nigerian bodybuilder based in the US. He succumbed to injuries sustained after being shot multiple times by his wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae, during an argument on March 21. The unfortunate incident led to Chidozie being on life support, but he eventually succumbed to complications arising from a severe spinal injury on April 8 as per a report by Daily Mail.

Reports indicate that Chidozie was struck by four bullets from his wife during the altercation that took place in their Houston apartment, witnessed by their young children.

After the incident, Chidozie was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, with police discovering him wounded and his wife distressed, clutching their three-year-old and two-year-old children.

According to ABC13, court records reveal that the bodybuilder was shot twice in the torso, once in the arm, and once in the chest.

Keaiirra, 28, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the shooting. However, these charges have not been amended following Chidozie’s tragic demise.

Investigators state that Keaiirra alleged that she resorted to shooting Chidozie in self-defense as she felt her life was in danger during the argument, especially when he pursued her into their bedroom. It was in that moment she grabbed a gun and fired at him.

ABC13’s report indicates that Keaiirra has been granted bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on May 23.

In an effort to lay Chidozie to rest in Nigeria, his family is seeking to raise $70,000 for the repatriation. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support the family with the necessary expenses.
