Tragic Incident Leaves Four Dead in Series of Accidents on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Four individuals tragically lost their lives while one sustained injuries in a series of road accidents that took place near Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Thursday and involved several vehicles including an Isuzu mini truck registered as T1079L, a Toyota Camry with the registration number EPE200GK, a Honda Accord, and a BUA trailer without a visible registration number.

According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, the exact number of individuals involved in the accident is still being determined.

The crash was attributed to a brake failure which caused a loss of control, resulting in one vehicle colliding with another from behind while in motion.

Providing details, Okpe said, “The collision occurred at around 19:35 hours near Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, involving four vehicles. Although the exact number of individuals involved is yet to be determined, one male adult sustained injuries, while four individuals (one male adult and three female adults) lost their lives in the series of accidents.”

The injured individual was promptly transported to AZ Zonecare Hospital in Magboro. The body of one deceased victim was taken to the morgue at Real Divine Hospital in Ibafo, while the families of the other three deceased individuals claimed their bodies.

Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to avoid overspeeding, conduct regular vehicle checks, and promptly address any mechanical issues.
