Tragedy struck along the Ota-Idiroko Expressway in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, where a drunk truck driver crashed into a bus near the Castinjo/Ola bus stop. This unfortunate incident resulted in the immediate loss of life for the bus driver and his assistant.

A statement released by Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the details of the accident.

Reports indicate that the collision occurred at approximately 6:48 am and involved a MAN Diesel truck without a license plate and a bus bearing registration number LND 224 GF.

Following the crash, traffic congestion ensued as the wreckage of the truck impeded the flow of vehicles on the road, causing delays for several hours.

An eyewitness described the sequence of events, stating that the driver of the unmarked MAN Diesel truck, under the influence of alcohol and driving at high speed, veered off course and collided head-on with the bus traveling in the opposite direction.

Tragically, the bus driver and his assistant were fatally injured in the collision. In a cowardly act, the intoxicated truck driver and his assistant fled the scene after the crash.

The damaged vehicles, the truck, and the bus, have since been removed from the road and taken to the Onipanu Divisional Police Station in Ota. The deceased victims have been transferred to the morgue at Ifo General Hospital. This heartbreaking information was included in the official statement.
