Confirmation has been received from the Ebonyi State Police Command regarding the unfortunate demise of two individuals as a bridge under construction collapsed in Mgbabeluzor village, located in the Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was verified by DSP Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson for the command, during a briefing with journalists in Abakaliki on Monday.
At approximately 10 a.m., the collapse took place while construction workers were actively engaged at the site.
The victims, identified as Oshim Simon and Francis Inyang, were laborers employed by the construction company responsible for the project. Tragically, they lost their lives due to injuries sustained in the accident.
Subsequently, their bodies were recovered and transported to the Iboko General Hospital Mortuary within the vicinity.
