Along Eko Bridge in Lagos, a commercial bus driver, commonly referred to as a ‘Danfo’, tragically collided with a motorcycle rider (Okada), resulting in the rider’s death.
The Okada rider was struck by a yellow commercial bus while riding against oncoming traffic. Following the accident, the bus driver fled the scene. In response to the loss, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde conveyed the State Government’s sympathy to the rider’s family.
The Commissioner expressed disappointment at the bus driver’s escape from immediate arrest. However, he provided assurance that the culprit would be apprehended by the police and face legal consequences.
Emphasizing the government’s directive for all road users to adhere to traffic laws, Oladeinde cautioned commercial motorcycle riders to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and disrupting public order in the State following accidents involving their members.
