Tragic End: Newborn Rescued from Pit Toilet After Three Days Succumbs to Death

Regrettably, the newborn baby boy who was saved from a pit toilet in Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area, has passed away.

Previously, 9JA NEWS reported that the mother of the child, Nwaedoka Chidimma, 20, from Izzi, Ebonyi State, was allegedly responsible for intentionally discarding the baby into the pit.

Upon receiving the report, Ify Obinabo, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare in Anambra State, ordered that the newborn be transferred to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, in Awka for medical treatment.

Despite receiving extensive care, including the administration of oxygen and fluids with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, all attempts to revive the baby proved futile.

A statement posted on a Facebook page affiliated with the commissioner reads: “It is with great sadness that we inform the general public of the unfortunate demise of the newborn saved from a pit toilet in Otuocha a few hours ago. Despite the tireless efforts by the medical team at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, including oxygen and fluid administration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the baby could not be saved. May his soul rest in peace.”
