‘Tinubu urges US Congressional delegation to view Africa as vital partner’

During a meeting with Senator Cory Booker and the United States Congressional delegation at the State House in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing democracy through upholding the rule of law and accelerating the sustainable delivery of good governance, justice, and equity to all Nigerian citizens.

Highlighting the importance of defending democracy, Tinubu emphasized the significance of translating it into tangible outcomes such as quality healthcare, education, food security, shelter, and overall economic prosperity for the Nigerian populace.

As Nigeria stands as Africa’s largest democracy and economy, Tinubu asserted the country’s role as a vital partner in upholding democracy not just within Africa but globally. He expressed his determination to eradicate past leadership challenges and reiterated the fundamental nature of democracy and adherence to the rule of law.

Tinubu urged the United States to forge a more strategic partnership with Africa, suggesting an enhancement of critical development initiatives to bolster ties with the continent. He proposed a more substantial commitment akin to the Marshall Plan that revived Europe post-World War II, emphasizing the need for practical support and understanding rather than handouts.

Emphasizing the untapped potential of Africa’s resources and the need for transformative approaches, Tinubu called for innovative solutions to leverage these resources for economic growth and sustainable development. He underscored the urgency for technologically-driven interventions in sectors like agriculture to enhance productivity and foster economic prosperity.

In addressing the prevailing challenges faced by African nations, Tinubu urged the US to view Africa as a key ally in promoting and preserving democracy, highlighting the interdependence of global stability on the continent’s progress.
