Approval has been granted by President Bola Tinubu for the appointment of a new chairman and six board members for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The announcement was made official in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President.
The newly appointed members are Mr. Mairiga Katuka as the Board Chairman, Mr. Emomotimi Agama as the Director-General, Frana Chukwuogor as the Executive Commissioner in charge of Legal and Enforcement, and Mr. Bola Ajomale as the Executive Commissioner for Operations.
Additionally, Mrs. Samiya Usman will serve as the Executive Commissioner handling Corporate Services, while Mr. Lekan Belo and Mr. Kasimu Kurfi have been appointed as Non-Executive Commissioners.
According to Ngelale, President Tinubu expects all board members to utilize their extensive experience and skills to advance the core mission of the commission. This includes developing and regulating a capital market that is fair, transparent, and efficient to bolster investor trust and significantly contribute to the economic progress of the nation.
