Three individuals remanded by court in connection with alleged armed robbery and murder

Charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder, three men – Kehinde Olagbemiro aged 55, Kunle Oguntoye aged 45, and Morakinyo Mukaila aged 57 – have been remanded in a correctional facility in Ibadan by the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court.

During the court session on Monday, the defendants, whose addresses remain undisclosed, did not enter a plea due to jurisdictional reasons as directed by the Magistrate, Mr. Maruff Mudashiru. The case file was instructed to be returned to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further legal advice. The next mention of the case is scheduled for Sept. 2.

Inspector Femi Oluwadare, the Prosecutor, stated that the alleged incidents occurred between March 25 and June 3 around 2.00 a.m. at Rhuoga Energy Ltd., Igboora, Oyo State. The defendants, alongside others still at large, reportedly robbed the company of earthen and terminating wires amounting to N15 million. They were said to be armed with guns, cutlasses, and other dangerous weapons. Additionally, the defendants were accused of causing the unlawful death of 56-year-old Lukman Adejumo and Fatai Jimoh, both security guards at the company, by tying them with ropes on their hands, legs, and neck.

The charges brought against the defendants are in violation of Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
