Three dead and ten injured in a shooting in southern Philadelphia

A violent shooting broke out shortly before 1:00 am in the neighborhood of Grays Ferrysouth of Philadelphia, when several shooters opened fire on a residential street. As reported by the Police Commissioner Kevin Bethelthree adults lost their lives and at least ten were injured in what has been classified as another episode of the escalation of violence after the weekend of July 4.

The deceased, three men of 19, 23 and 24 years oldthey were declared dead between 1:30 am and 2:15 am, after receiving impacts in torso or head. Among the injured are several young people, including two children, a 17 -year -old boy, a 15 -year -old girl who remains in Critical status.

The incident occurred in the 1500 Block of South Etting (or South 27th) Streetwhere the police initially went to a call for high music. Upon returning to the area, the agents heard the shots. It is believed that multiple aggressors participated and that more than a hundred shots were exchanged.

At least A person was arrested with a weaponbut the police have not yet confirmed their direct relationship with the shooting.

Wave of violence

This event adds to a wave of violence registered during the long weekend of July 4, in which at least reported Six homicides and multiple shootings in the city. One of the previous episodes also took place in South Philly, where eight attendees were injured to a bar nearby.

The Homicide Unit of the Philadelphia Police Lead the investigation. Authorities work with surveillance images, witnesses and test analysis collected at the scene to clarify what happened. At the moment, a Strong police deployment in the area.
