Theft of transformer in Ebonyi leads to the arrest of four suspects

On Thursday, in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, members of the Neighbourhood Watch successfully apprehended four suspects allegedly involved in a series of thefts of transformers and electricity wires across the country.

The suspects, said to be from a South-South state, were caught in the act of attempting to steal a transformer in Akpoha, Afikpo Local Government Area. Their operation was disrupted by the vigilant Neighbourhood Watch members, preventing the theft from taking place.

Accompanying the suspects was a local resident of Akpoha, who is currently evading capture.

Commander Michael Urom of the Neighbourhood Watch, together with his team, successfully apprehended the suspects. He strongly urged the general public to promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to the relevant security agencies for immediate intervention.

It has been reported that the suspects have been handed over to the local police authorities for further investigation.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, DSP Joshua Ukandu, were unsuccessful as his phone line was inaccessible at the time of contact.
