Immigration agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis this Saturday, as confirmed by the police to local media, in what represents the second incident of this type in the city within the framework of the large-scale raids ordered in this city by the Government of President Donald Trump.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed the man’s death in statements reported by The Minnesota Star Tribune.
Two murders in two weeks
The event occurs just over two weeks after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot and killed a woman in her car during their raids against migrants, which have been massively protested by the residents of Minneapolis.
“I just spoke with the White House after another horrible shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota is fed up. This is disgusting. The president must put an end to this operation. Remove the thousands of violent and untrained agents from Minnesota. Right now!” wrote the governor of the state of Minnesota (where Minneapolis is located), Tim Walz, on the X network.
Several videos go viral on social networks and media
A video published on Facebook and verified by media such as NBC News shows the event.
The images show half a dozen or more masked officers surrounding a man who struggles with them and appears to be resisting on the ground.
At one point one of the officers appears to hit him with the butt of a gun just before another operative opens fire on the individual, who now remains completely motionless on the ground while the immigration personnel move away.
The same newspaper also quotes officials from the Department of Homeland Security, which supervises immigration agencies, assuring that the victim was armed.
The large-scale raids in Minnesota were ordered by the Trump Administration in early January, when a conservative YouTuber’s documentary brought back into focus the cases of federal funds misappropriated by daycare centers run by members of the Somali community, which the president himself has repeatedly disqualified.
