The US Supreme Court suspends the expulsions made by Trump through the foreign enemies law

The United States Supreme Court has ordered the federal government on Saturday immediately stop the expulsions of irregular migrants to El Salvadormade under the protection of the so -called foreign enemies law. The regulations have been used by the White House to justify the arrest of people accused of belonging to terrorist organizations. In its resolution, the High Court prohibits the executive “transferring any member of the alleged class of detainees from the United States to the new order of this court. “The decision had the dissent of conservative judges Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

The order particularly affects the detainees right now in the Bluebonnet detention center, in the north of the state of Texas, accused of being part of the criminal organization Aragua train. By declaring this organization as a terrorist entity, the Trump administration argues that it ended up empowered to apply this controversial law, drafted in the 18th century for use in time of war.

The law has only been invoked on three previous occasions In the history of the United States, the most recent during World War II to recruit American civilians of Japanese origin in internment fields. The Trump administration ended up using the law to expel “hot” migrants who identified as members of this criminal organization, regardless of their immigration status and without complying with the necessary protocol.
