The White House this Saturday dismissed the ‘No Kings’ protests, which attracted thousands of protesters in major US cities.
In a statement, replicated by local media, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson described the protests as “therapy sessions” for “Trump disorder,” a term used by President Donald Trump and the ruling party to mock the opposition.
“The only people who are interested in (the demonstrations) are the reporters who are paid to cover them,” the spokeswoman added.
The ‘No Kings’ movement, made up of dozens of organizations and activists opposed to the Trump Government, organized more than 3,300 protests this Saturday in all 50 US states to repudiate what they call “authoritarianism” on the part of the president.
Organizers have not yet provided official participation figures, but hundreds of people in cities such as New York, Washington DC, Minneapolis, Chicago and Los Angeles participated in the event.
In this third edition of the day, the protesters denounced the “illegal war” that Trump began just a month ago in Iran, which has implied a rise in fuel prices and inflation, in addition to reaffirming their criticism against the “abuses” of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE).
The main mobilization occurred before tens of thousands of people in Minneapolis, the largest city in the state of Minnesota, the epicenter of national outrage against ICE and the Border Patrol because their agents killed US citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti there in January.
The ‘No Kings’ coalition of some 400 groups, such as Amnesty International, Indivisible and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), hopes to surpass the previous two editions, that of 7 million attendees and 2,700 events last October, and that of 5 million protesters in 2,100 sites in June 2025.
The demonstrations in the United States occur while disapproval of Trump reaches its highest level of his two terms in office, with 59% of Americans disapproving of his management, a Fox News poll revealed on Wednesday.
