The suspension of examinations at Plateau Varsity due to the fatal shooting of a student by gunmen


In response to the tragic incident where a 200-level student was killed by gunmen, the management of Plateau University in Bokkos has decided to halt the ongoing examinations.

On Friday in Jos, the state capital, the institution’s registrar, Yakubu Ayuba, made the announcement.

Gunmen reportedly launched an attack on Chikam, a neighboring community of the university, on Thursday night which resulted in the death of the student identified as Dading Jordan.

The university’s management has declared a two-day mourning period to honor the deceased student, as conveyed by Ayuba.

“The Vice-Chancellor and the entire management extend their sympathies to the bereaved family, the student body, and the university community.

Due to this unfortunate event, the management has declared a two-day mourning period from Friday, April 19, to Saturday, April 20.

Consequently, all examinations that were initially scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been postponed. While urging our students to remain calm and law-abiding, we also appeal to the security agencies to enhance security in and around the university to ensure the safety of the staff and students,” he mentioned.
