The Spaniards trapped in Libya fly to Rome and will return to Spain this Friday

The nine Spanish businessmen who have been trapped in Tripoli (Libya) for armed clashes between militias will fly tonight to Rome, from where this Friday will take their respective flights back to Spain.

The businessmen are already at the Tripoli airport, waiting to take a flight to the Italian capital, where the night will spend, as the director of the International Department of the Chamber of Commerce of Tarragona, Roberto Barros, explained to Efe.

At first they had planned to leave this Friday from Libya but finally the Embassy of Spain in the country has accelerated the process and got the group to take this same night a flight to Italy.

This Friday, each businessman will fly to his destination city. In the case of Barros, towards Barcelona, where it plans to arrive at 11:00 hours.

“It has been complicated, difficult, but we have had the invaluable collaboration of our Embassy and the Ambassador, Javier Soria Quintana, who have devised so that we could leave the country as quickly as possible,” said Barros in a video that has recorded with his mobile from Libyan airport.

The members of the mission are all “healthy and saved” and at no time have they feared for their life.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has reported that the evacuation with a message on social networks has successfully completed.
