The Release of Delta Monarch Linked to Okuama Massacre

Following the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama, the Nigerian Army has set free Clement Ikolo, the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, to the Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone.

Major General Clement Nwachukwu, the Army’s spokesperson, stated that Ikolo was released due to lack of evidence linking him to the incident.

Senator Dafinone has taken responsibility as the monarch’s guarantor, although there is currently no clear evidence supporting Ikolo’s innocence.

After being declared wanted by the military in connection with the soldiers’ deaths, the traditional ruler of Ewu surrendered to the police, who subsequently handed him over to the army. Ikolo had been in army custody for almost a month.

The tragic incident in Okuama took place on March 14th, resulting in the death of 17 Army personnel who were on a peacekeeping mission.
