The Okuama Massacre and the Military’s Consideration of Bounty on Wanted Suspects

A plan to offer a bounty on the individuals declared wanted for the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community, Delta State, has been unveiled by the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, DHQ.

Major General Buba Edward, the Director of Defence Media Operations, affirmed the military’s unwavering commitment to capturing all the wanted persons.

In a recent statement, Edward emphasized the military’s determination, stating, “We are prepared to take any necessary actions to apprehend these individuals, including the possibility of placing a bounty on them.”

The tragic incident occurred on March 14 when the troops of 181 Amphibious Battalion, stationed in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, were ambushed and killed by irate youths during a peacekeeping mission to Okuama Community.

The fallen soldiers were laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Abuja last Wednesday.

Following their interment, the Military released a list of eight individuals, including a woman, who are now wanted in connection to the massacre.

The wanted suspects are Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (known as Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Ogenerukeywe, Reuben Baru, and Igoli Ebi.
