The NSCDC in Anambra State Prepares for Hunger Protest

Preparations are underway by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State as they begin a show of force in anticipation of the nationwide protests set to start on August 1.

Commandant Maku Olatunde led officers and personnel in the “show of force” across the state on Tuesday, emphasizing the command’s dedication to ensuring a safe environment and dominating public spaces.

The demonstration began at the state command headquarters in Awka and covered important routes like Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Ziks Avenue, Regina Caeli Junction, and more, before concluding at the Head Bridge in Onitsha.

The display of force exhibited a strong security presence in the areas visited.

The ongoing show of force until August 12 highlights the agency’s commitment to safeguarding national assets and infrastructure.

Commandant Olatunde stated, “This proactive measure aims to prevent and address any potential instances of vandalism, peace disturbances, and unlawful activities during the planned protests.”

“The coordinated show of force with other security agencies in Anambra State reaffirms that the state’s security apparatus is fully prepared to respond decisively to any individuals posing as protesters to disrupt the existing safety and security measures.”

Olatunde cautioned the youth against being used for violence and urged citizens to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard peace in Anambra State.

He also warned deployed personnel to maintain professionalism, emphasizing that misconduct will not be tolerated.

“While carrying out your duties, exercise caution, show self-control, avoid unnecessary use of force, and prioritize peaceful resolutions,” he advised.
